Affiliate Marketing is Addictive (Obsessive Even)

Once you start seeing those sales it's all over for you! Forget sleep, forget projects around the house. Everything waits until you get all of the information in all of the blogs, shopping sites, links areas and so forth about the program that's just made money, then the other stuff comes. Sleep, raking the leaves, cleaning the car, etc.

I have really been obsessing over this online marketing since way before they called it Affiliate Marketing. I joined the Amazon Associate Program back in 1997, and my first sale was a book I had advertised on my front page called Publicity on the Internet. In fact, this is what my site looked like back in 1997.

Believe me, I stayed up late at night trying to master html, get the right ads on the pages, and visiting other sites I considered to be successful in the field of what I was calling then, simply, online marketing. I was sure I was going to hit it big and make the millions all at once. Didn't happen.

Over the years we all have learned many great things, like patience! It has taken a long time in the hit or miss, hunt and peck, try until you die world of affiliate marketing. I have seen some of the guys I associated with back then become millionaires, and many others have gone off the web, and even at least 2 I used as mentors have died in recent years. That tells you I have been at it awhile. Most of them are like me, middle of the road successful, making it just fine.

I still obsess when I get a new project going, but I have learned to balance my time online with offline. Family, wife, home, church, all get equal shares of me. I have learned how to control my emotions when I see a new Revenue Stream developing. I still get the same RUSH however, and still feel the power and have the fun when a new gateway page begins selling or recruiting. WOW, that never changes.

It's an Obsession I guess
