Affiliate talk and a few insights for new affiliates

Is making money the reason you came to my website or blog? Most visitors are looking for ways to learn affiliate marketing and how they can use the process to make money themselves. I know this for a fact. My site is situated on the internet in such a way that only those who want to earn money are likely to visit. I know you want to make money online.

Lots of people are wanting a quick fix to their money issues. I have met many of these types, and if they try one thing for a few days or weeks and they never make any money then they quit, angry and disgusted. This happens all the time, but in my opinion that process weeds out the impatient and the weak. The simple truth is that some people are not right for this business, and might have made bad affiliates anyway.

The first thing we all need in this business is patience. You have to be patient with yourself as you learn the basics, and you have to be patient while you wait for results from the affiliate content you have created. There are several ways to earn money as an affiliate, and a new marketer must take the time to consider all these ways as well. It all takes time, as learning any new business does.

Most affiliate blogs and website resources talk about publishing information about something you are interested in, but I kind of have a different approach. I will publish about any subject under the sun (nasty bad illegal stuff excluded). I have earned money by producing pages and sites about things I have no interest in, but that I perceived others were interested in, and that is the key. I market in several niches, and in several sectors as well. I sell swimsuits and cameras, ebooks about making money and ways to invest money, wine and food, cigars, diet programs and herbal remedies. You name it, and if it is legal and real, I will sell it.

However, a new affiliate has to start somewhere, so publishing your passion is certainly a great way to begin. After all you know something about that subject and can more easily create a new site or blog about it. I have a young friend who started out with Racquetball. He plays the game all the time, so his first ZLiO Shop was all about racquetball. He populated it with hundreds of products that he already knew something about, so his beginning followed the pattern most successful affiliates recommend.

Another guy I know started out with BANS (build a niche store) software, and he now has about 30 stores and is doing well, but it took him a year to get it all together and start making money. How many of you who are looking at affiliate marketing for the first time will be willing to wait for a whole year before making money? Some make money sooner, and even some make it right away because they came up with a good idea that had not been presented before. It takes a little creativity and imagination, and some work learning all about whatever system utilized.

I always ask new affiliates to start a new blog, and the system I use is perfectly fine and it is free. The site you are on now allows you to create a new blog for free. That is a good place to start. I also tell them to publish on Squidoo and ZLiO, and to explore my site for other good resources. Some people will have money to spend, while others will be on a tight budget. Whatever your situation, be ready to learn and do research. That is what I did, and I know only a little about the massive opportunity this industry represents.

Open a new domain? Yes you can, and I recommend it at some juncture, but just in the beginning I recommend the free web 2.0 member sites, blogs and other similar publishing resources to begin the learning curve process. After you get a good idea of what you want to specialize in, then go get the new domain and use it as a base of operations. My site is my base of operations, and I use it to store resources that I use all the time. Other affiliates don't do it this way, but that is due to the fact that each of us is different.

There are many different ways to skin the cat! We all start in a different location, but the end result is the same. Make money online!
