Hey Affiliates, ebay is leaving the cj network
Wow it has finally happened. Ebay has opted out of the CJ affiliate network, who has for a long time managed the data for the ebay affiliate program. I am a little nervous about all this, because we all have until May 1st 2008 to get the links changed on all of our sites and dynamic pages. I have some, but not as many as some of you guys!
I am very excited as I believe there will be more innovation via this in house affiliate program managed directly by ebay. In fact, according to CostPerNews, "eBay is also looking to build in more flexibility and innovation into their program to reach and sustain the more diverse crowd of affiliates and publishers on the web today and to have a direct relationship with those affiliates".
Having a direct relationship with the people at ebay will be something new, as we currently have no relationship with anyone at CJ. At least, I have not had one for many years that's for sure. I think this will improve this affiliate opportunity, and I am betting we will understand exactly WHAT the opps are for a change. It has always been difficult for me to sift through the rather nebulous information on the CJ site, but I still manage to get a commission once in awhile.
I am looking forward to this new change and now I will undoubtedly use the ebay system a whole lot more in my promotions. In fact, this will involve major changes for lots of 3rd party services who interface with ebay like BANS and DealSpot. Lots of programming for lots of folks coming up in the next few weeks!
